I’m sure by now, you’re asking, ” Yeah, but who has the time for a 12-step skincare routine when you can barely get enough sleep? ” Well in that case, keep reading to check out my easy-to-adopt ultimate skincare routine for the busy hustlers.
Ultimate Skincare Routine for The Busy Hustlers
Remember, every skincare routine should have at least three main steps:
One part of your skin care routine that you should never skip. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser in the morning after you wake up and in the evening before bedtime. This will remove any dirt, sweat, makeup, or oil that has accumulated on your face which can clog up your pores and cause you to break out. You can check out some of our drug store favourite cleansers for oily skin and dry skin.
This step is all about maximizing the benefits. Use your specific treatment products to deliver a concentrated dose of anti-aging ingredients. Use a moisturizer twice daily. Apply it before makeup or use tinted moisturizers to replace your foundation. If you really don’t have time, go for an all-in-one product, opt for tinted moisturizers that contain SPF 50 with hyaluronic acid for a boost of hydration and antioxidants for an anti-aging effect.
Take the time to find out what type of moisturizer works best for your skin type (for example: moisturizers for oily, dry and acne prone skin). Remember, moisturizers come in different textures such as lotions, milk, essences, creams and gels.
Always have your SPF at hand for re-application. Sunscreen protects your skin from premature aging due to the UV rays from the sun. It’s also wise to take other steps such as limiting your sun exposure (especially between 10 AM and 2 PM), covering up exposed areas with long sleeves, pants, a broad-brimmed hat, and UV-blocking sunglasses.
Oh and remember, you got to reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours, so just toss it in your bag before leaving home.
Bonus step: Eye cream
Whenever you have an extra minute to spare, add an eye cream to your skincare routine. The skin around the eyes is more fragile, more prone to dryness, and quicker to show age and early signs of fatigue. So eye creams can help address some of these concerns, as they are formulated specifically for the delicate skin around the eye. Look for ingredients like vitamin C, niacinamide, kojic acid, hylaluronic acid and retinol.
I’ve also adopted a new habit, which I’m loving lately. I’m carrying a tiny bottle of a hydrating facial mist with me to work. But remember, it should contain humectants like glycerin or hyaluronic acid, and not one of those plain thermal water sprays.
