With Eid just around the corner, we have handpicked a fantastic line up of thriller movies that you can binge watch over the holiday.

The Invisible Guest (2016) – Spanish
A movie that has spawned a remake across different languages, The Invisible Guest keeps you guessing and at the edge of your screen through out its runtime. As the movie progresses, you begin to feel so strongly about the characters and just then, BAM! the director surprises you with a nerve-racking plot twist. Turn on your subtitles and watch the original Spanish version.
A Quiet Place (2018) – English
It is time to turn up the volume and turn off the lights! This movie is based in a post-apocalyptic world, where monsters find you with sound. Lots of jump scenes throughout, so keep that popcorn somewhere safe!
Knives out (2019) – English
The story follows a detective who is investigating the death of a family member in an eccentric and somewhat colorful family. If you are a fan of whodunits and crime novels, this may be worth watching. It is the closest you can get to watching an Agatha Christie movie, without actually watching an Agatha Christie movie!
Inferno (2016) – English
Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) wakes up in a Florence hospital bed with short-term memory loss. What follows next is his race against time to stop the plot antagonist from unleashing a virus that could wipe out half of the world’s population. Of course, in between the script you’ll notice the several ‘didn’t-see-that-coming’ plot twists thrown in by the dicrector.
Odd Thomas (2013) – English
If you have watched the 6th sense, this movie takes those abilities to a whole different level. The story revolves around a seemingly ordinary twenty year-old boy with a paranormal secret. He can not only see the dead, but can also track the actions of the invisible ‘bodachs’ and has realistic flash-forwards. So alerted by his rather odd ‘gift’, Thomas then tries to help save the souls that reach out to him.
Bird box (2018) – English
This Sandra Bullock-starrer thriller is set in an apocalyptic world where mysterious creatures present as horrifying visions. These ‘visions’ are so eerily daunting that a single glance at it, warrants self-destruction. The movie jumps back and forth in time and keeps us at the edge of our seats till the credits roll.
A Tale of Two Sisters (2003) – Korean
A captivating thriller that follows the story of two sisters after the deaths in their family. This one will keep you guessing until the end.
Perfect Number (2012) – Korean
A brilliant mathematician falls in love with his next door neighbor. And in pursuit of that love, he offers to help cover things up when she unexpectedly murders her abusive ex-husband.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994) – English
A timeless classic that remains on the top of every thriller movie recommendation list.
The Usual Suspects (1994) – English
The Usual Suspects is an intricately well scripted thriller. With a dense multi-layered story line, it somehow keeps you guessing till the very end. Again, a classic thriller that is watchable even after twenty years.
Train to Busan (2016) – Korean
Train to Busan follows the story of a father and his daughter as they board a train to Busan along with other passengers. In an unfortunate turn of events, they become trapped on the speeding train during a zombie outbreak.
The Man from Nowhere (2010) – Korean
A man takes on both a violent drug-and-organ trafficking ring and his own secluded past to save a child. Again, the plot keeps us at the egde of our seats all through the runtime.
Flightplan (2005) – English
A woman’s daughter disappears mid-flight, and no one will admit to having seen her enter the plane.
Shutter Island (2010) – English
This movie is set in 1954 and it takes place in a fictional island where criminally insane patients are kept at the Ashecliffe Hospital. U.S. Martial Teddy Daneils (Leonardo) along with his partner officer Chuck (Mark Ruffalo) investigates the psychiatric facility in the hospital after one of the patients goes missing. There are different interpretations to the ending of the movie, what was yours?
